THE CLASSES IN SUHNDI:

PALADINS

Suhndi Paladins are not different from other Paladins in their abilities. They
are revered among the clericy and are therefore trusted with great independence
in their training. Once trained, though, they are expected to serve the clericy.

Suhndi Paladins are relatively plentiful--anyone who answers the call here answers
it to the same deity, after all--so often they do not ride alone. They belong
to "Circles," usually of 3-15 Paladins, loosely organized units capable of acting
together on one quest. The most awe-inspiring Circle contains 30 Paladins
and reports to the Caliph directly--an invitation to join this Circle is the
highest of honors. Other Circles answer to a Zyiph or to one of the Zyr
(essentially ordained kings and governors), some to an Azama (the head of a city).
These clerics often send their Paladins individually out into the world, either for
a specific quest or just for a set length of time (maybe a month, maybe five years).
During this time they are always ready to return home at a moment's notice should
their presence be requested by their cleric, or by the divine Caliph himself.

Occasionally they have been dispatched to "remove" from the land such "evils" as
Kahwan Monasteries. They don't have much latitude to refuse duties which seem more
political than good--but if anyone in Suhndi society is positioned to softly question
the decrees of the theocracy, it is the Paladins.

Suhndi Paladins consider themselves vessels of Salaman's will, and as a result
are generally less independent than Paladins of other deities. But they are more
likely than other Suhndi to respect the beliefs of other people--as long as those
people aren't too far removed from Lawful Good, of course. Suhndi paladins respect
other culture's paladins as exotic equals. Recently some Paladins have been sent
into The Midlands, with an open-ended quest to tame the region. Perhaps there has
never been a more stirring moment to serve as a Suhndi Paladin.
